On the websites of the island tourist office where you make your booking, you'll find the general travel conditions that are applicable on your booking.

Reservation costs

We charge a € 15 reservation fee for a reservation (regardless of length of stay).

 

Pets

Not all accommodations will allow you to take your pets along. Always ask when booking. Sometimes extra fees are charged. 

 

Tourist tax

In a number of cases, tourist tax is included in the price. In others, it must be paid immediately with the accommodation. 

 

Cancellation risk/insurance

Taking out cancellation insurance gives you the possibility of cancelling free of charge under certain circumstances (available at the reservations offices). At a number of islands this is included as standard (see text below).

 

Good to know

* A three-day holiday includes two nights, a five-day holiday includes four nights, etc..

* All prices in the Waddenguide and on this site are in Euro.

* In the Waddenguide you'll also find some active holidays. Sometimes a minimum number of participants is required. Then in the text it's pointed out when this number should be reached.

 

Hotel holidays

In many hotels and bed and breakfast pensions you can arrive and depart on any day of the week. If there is a required day of arrival and/or a minimum stay, this is usually indicated. This stipulation often applies during holiday periods, holidays and events. On the day of arrival you can usually occupy the room in the early afternoon; on the day of departure you usually leave the room after breakfast. 

A stay in the form of a package (indicated with the code Y in the guide) includes a number of extras, which vary per island. Holiday stays without extras have the code X in the guide. The prices are per person, based on a double room. Other prices apply if you are travelling alone unless otherwise indicated. Also ask at the reservation offices about possible reductions for children. With the extension prices you can easily calculate what a holiday costs per extra night.

 

Hotel holidays are offered on the basis of full board, half board, bed and breakfast or dinner, or only lodgings.  The following meals are included

* full board: dinner on the day of arrival through lunch on the day of departure;

* half board: dinner on the day of arrival through breakfast on the day of departure;

* bed and breakfast: breakfast is included from the day after arrival through the day of departure.

 

Bungalow holidays

In an appartment or bungalow you normally have a required minimum stay and specific days of arrival and departure. You can hire these accommodations per week, during the off-season, or for shorter periods: midweek and weekend.

 

Arrival is often on a Friday, Saturday, Monday or Thursday.

 

Midweek stays are from Monday afternoon until Friday morning;

Weekends from Friday afternoon until Monday morning.

 

Many of these packages are offered by private owners. This means that in parks, for example, the bungalow lay-outs can differ, also from the picture. But they are in the same class and have equivalent quality.

 

Additional charges: Unless otherwise mentioned, the costs of gas, water and electricity are included in the rental price. Bed linnen are usually not included, unless indicated otherwise. Additional charges must often be settled with the landlord/-lady. In a number of cases you must pay cleaning costs.

 

If no weekend- or midweek prices are mentioned, you can ask at the reservation office in question.

 

Discounts are mentioned with the price tables. Discounts cannot be combined.

 

Booking information Texel

The accommodation in the guide is merely a selection of our total range. The complete range can be viewed on the website of the VVV Texel.

* The chosen accommodation can be booked online at http://www.texel.net/. Upon booking you will be required to pay 10% of the accommodation prices to the Tourist Office Texel. For last minute bookings you will in some cases be required to pay 100% on booking. In the confirmation that you receive by e-mail you will find instructions for the payment of the remaining fee.

* A Mondial Assistance cancellation risk policy is optional.

* The tourist tax of € 0,85 p.p.p.n. (under reserve) has to be paid to the landlord.

Booking information Vlieland

The accommodation possibilities on Vlieland are offered as a package (code Y in the guide). The complete range of accommodations on Vlieland can be found at the website of the VVV Vlieland.

Hotel packages include tourist tax and VVV facilities (including printing material) and cancellation insurance, but exclude the Harlingen-Vlieland crossing and back. You can book this online at the website of Rederij Doeksen.

Packages are offered at the bungalows/apartments include VVV facilities and cancellation insurance, but exclude boat crossing (www.rederij-doeksen.nl), tourist tax, obligatory final cleaning and deposit.

 

Booking information Terschelling

The complete range of accommodations on Terschelling can be found at the  website of the VVV Terschelling.

The hotel packages include (prices are per person):

* 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 nights in the hotel of your choice;

* taxi transport  from the harbour to your hotel and back;

* cancellation insurance;

* admission ticket to the municipal museums;

* bicycle rental;

* an information package per reservation with among others walking/cycling map of Terschelling;

 

Not included: boat transport (persons/cars) Harlingen-Terschelling and back. Tickets can be bought at the website of Rederij Doeksen.

 

With all half board packages there is an opportunity to 'eat out' for dinner. You receive a dinner coupon (which can also be redeemed in your hotel).

 

The bungalows, mobile homes and apartments can be hired without meals and excl. tourist tax (€ 0,78 p.p.p.n., to be paid to your host).

 

Booking information Ameland

The complete range of accommodations at Ameland can be found at the website of the VVV Ameland.

All reservations include cancellation insurance. A package of your choice can be booked as well, consisting off:

 

* Holwerd-Ameland crossing and return trip (passengers);

* Taxi transport from harbour to holiday address and vice versa;

* Three days bicycle rental;

* Visit to one of the museums;

* Information package (1 per reservation).

The costs of this package are € 44 per person when staying in Nes and € 47 per person in Hollum or Ballum.

 

Booking information Schiermonnikoog

The complete range of accommodations on Schiermonnikoog can be found at the website of the VVV Schiermonnikoog.

All prices listed include:

* Tourist tax (unless mentioned otherwise);

* Information package about the island, including cycling/walking map;

* VVV Schiermonnikoog can arrange your boat tickets (with discount) if you wish.
